The armies established by the Turks since their presence in history were undoubtedly among the most powerful and systematic in the world. In Turkish society, every individual was akin to a soldier ready for conflict. The concept of a "nation-army" was prominently evident in the military structure of the Ottoman Empire, contributing significantly to the state's success. However, over time, the military failures and the weakening of the state led to the idea of reforming the army. Particularly after the proclamation of the Second Constitutional Era, priority was given to reforming and restructuring the military.
To better understand the modernization movements following the establishment of the Republic and the current state of the Turkish army, it is essential to have a thorough knowledge of the army's role and the restructuring efforts during the Ottoman Empire. For this reason, the book titled Reforms, Restructuring, and the Establishment of the Inspection Organization in the Army during the Second Constitutional Era, authored by Assoc. Prof. Dr. İsmail Efe and published by Berikan Publishing House, stands out as an important resource.
